Time Out

Oh Heavens. It has been too long.
I had to put myself on an electronic Time Out.
Yep. For about a week & a half, I tuned out & logged off.
No blogging, no blog hopping, no getting lost in the web of links, very limited FB, no Pinterest, no hunting for projects or inspiration. Just living...
& planning two birthday parties.
(Which I love to do. If I were to have another career it would be party planning. I secretly dream of spending a day with  Amy Atlas. Yikes. Have you seen her desert tables? Dreamy!)

I have one party down, and one to go. I am really excited about the next one. My daughter wanted a Pajama & Pancake party, so we are gearing up for a
house full of little girls and girly fun.

I have had some time to get creative this last week...painting, journaling, decorating, & crafting.
Look at this super cute jute wrapped letter R.
So cheap & easy. It is just a wooden $1.99 letter from Micheals
wrapped in jute. Love it!

I also have this waiting on my very clean studio table.
Believe me, it never stays this clean. We had company. :)

I started this background for Mystele's lesson for Life Book
I love the way she teaches & her playful, whimsical style.
She has a fantastic YouTube channel
If you haven't visited her...you need to. :)

Not the best picture. Sorry about that!
I am looking forward to catching up on some blogs and
keeping the creative juices flowing.
Happy Monday!

Cherish the in Between

My word for 2012 is cherish. I am finding moments in my day that fill my heart. I am hoping that by sharing them here - I will not only record them, but seek to find life's abundant treasures. Life is a journey, and I am learning to cherish the big, the small, and everything in between. :)

  • little conversations between my two Love Bugs while playing together
  • stolen moments for creating...10 minutes here...10 minutes there
  • dress shopping with my little princess for the Father/Daughter dance
  • little hands in Play-Doh
  • my almost 3 year old who loves Toy Story & thinks he is Buzz Lightyear
  • Sharpie pens & watercolors
  • sunshine through the clouds on rainy days
  • Yummy vegan food at Real Food Daily
  • sweet comments from other artists and bloggers (They make my day so sweet!)
  • a cup of coffee and devotions
  • a warm bowl of homemade soup on a cold day
  • the ability to hold my baby when he is sick
Journal page in process - Sharpie & watercolors

Hope little moments to cherish are finding you today.
XOXO,

Things I LOVE #1

It's the month of love. There are hearts everywhere. I get to celebrate my anniversary this weekend. Big time LOVE fest going on. So, I thought it would be fun to start a little weekly series of sharing things I love. It will be totally random...big things, little things - maybe even silly things. Just a few things that make me smile...and maybe you too! :)

~One~
My Hunk

It's my anniversary Monday (8 years). So, I have to start with him! Plus, he just surprised me with Cirque du Soleil OVO tickets. Swoon!

~Two~
Peas and Thank You

If you love healthy vegetarian or vegan cooking - this blog and cookbook are great! I got her cookbook for my birthday, and I have been trying many of her yummy recipes. She is adorably funny too!

~Three~
La Croix Sparkling Water

I used to be a big Diet Coke drinker. My Hunk too. (I think that is all he ever drank. Well, that and coffee.) When I was pregnant with my son I stopped drinking Diet Coke. I really needed something bubbly. I tried lots of different brands - but, nothing was as tasty as La Croix. I have now converted my Hubby, my mom, and my BFF. SO much better than the Diet stuff!

~Four~
Jane Austen

Source: google.com via Alice on Pinterest

She is my absolute favorite author. I adore her books. I am reading Pride and Prejudice again right now. Oh, and the movies. My favorite movies too. I know movies tend to stray from the books most often. BUT, there is nothing...nothing...better than Mr. Darcy walking across that misty field, night coat (is that what it is called) flapping in the early morning wind towards Elizabeth. :)

~Five~
Third Day

The lead singer Mac Powell has one of my all time favorite voices. Seriously. I have seen them so many times in concert and they sound amazing! LOVE! This video is about adoption, which has always tugged strongly at my heart. A most amazing gift of love for all involved!

For now, that is it! This Blogger is driving me crazy. It would be on my anti-love list today! :)
Hope you are finding things to love!
Happy Friday!!!

Problem and Solution

Problem...
A wee bit of creative mojo loss and a big, blank, white page staring at me.

Solution....
Grab a sweet little pencil and sketch away. Remember to go for it.
Don't be afraid to put the lines down. Play!!
Work fast and don't think about it too much.
Have fun and use that imagination to create something whimsical...
a big eyed girl perhaps?

Then throw down some of that color with yummy
Caran D'ache crayons and Inktense pencils.
Channel all that inspiration...
(Thank you Traci, Danielle, Tam, Kylie, Kristin, Mystele, Jennibellie, & so many more!)
& quiet my inner critic.
Just have fun. Don't care about the crooked eyes...imperfect is beautiful. :)

Snap some pictures with my iPhone to capture it and she is done.
Well, for now.
I'll be back to add more.
But, for now...she makes me smile. :)

What is making you smile today?
